Learn Padel in Zürich: How to Get Started (Courses, Coaching & Community)
Discovered padel and want to get properly into it? Good news: learning padel in Zürich is straightforward — and fun from the very first session. At PDL Zürich in Schlieren we take you from your first rally to your first tournament win. Here's a look at the different routes and which one suits you.
Why padel is so easy to learn
Unlike tennis, padel doesn't demand perfect technique for you to enjoy the game. The court is compact, the serve is underarm, and the walls keep the ball in play. Real rallies happen in your very first hour. With a bit of guidance it moves fast: positioning, the volley at the net and the famous bandeja shot come quicker than you'd expect.
Your routes in
1. Group courses at the academy
In our academy you train in small groups with players at a similar level. It's the most popular option for beginners: you learn the fundamentals in a structured way, meet new people and instantly have partners for your next match. Courses are tiered by level — from complete beginners to advanced players.
2. Private coaching (1:1 or in pairs)
If you want to progress faster or fine-tune a specific shot, private coaching is ideal. One-on-one or in pairs, your coach works directly on your technique and tactics. Many of our players combine both: a group course for consistency, a few private lessons for the polish.
3. Weekly tournaments & community
The fastest way to improve is to play often and enjoy it. That's why we run weekly tournaments and community events. Here you face rotating opponents, build match experience and become part of a group that loves the sport as much as you do. Plenty of real friendships have started on these evenings.
What a typical start looks like
- Give it a try: book a court and play a relaxed game with friends — rental rackets are available on site for CHF 5.
- Build the basics: join an academy group course and learn the serve, the volley and court positioning.
- Add the polish: take a few private lessons for the shots that still feel tricky.
- Get match practice: sign up for a weekly tournament and play regularly.
You can take this path entirely at your own pace — there's no membership and no joining fee.
